Two Thrifty Sisters Night Out
Grab your favorite frugal friends and come to Suzanne’s for a fun night out with great food, coupons and giveaways, and of course, all our trade secrets for living well on the cheap! Suzanne is planning a great menu for the night, and we can’t wait to see what yummy dishes and delectable desserts she cooks up for everyone again.
Admission is $15, and that covers both the meal and the workshop. Space is limited, so we’re asking you to reserve your spot in advance. You can call Suzanne’s at 256-232-8210 to make your reservations and/or pay over the phone.
AND…
We’ve decided to do something special to help others with this workshop. If you live around Athens, you’ve probably already heard about Chris Crable and Gaston Cole, a couple of guys who lost pretty much everything they had in a fire that burned the house they were renting. Chris is the Assistant Chief of the Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad, and Gaston’s grandmother Barbara goes to church with me. You can read about the fire here.
Right now Chris and Gaston are making do, staying with friends, but there is so much they still need. A fund has been set up for them at Bank Independent for those who want to donate cash, but if you’re like me, you have more stuff on hand than you have cash to donate. So here’s what we’re going to do:
If you bring an item to donate and help out Chris and Gaston, you’ll get $1 off admission to the workshop. They need basic hygiene items like deodorant, soap, razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as pantry items like cereal and canned goods. A lot of that stuff, like granola bars, cereal and Pop-Tarts, is on sale at Publix this week, too!
These guys also need clothes, too. Here’s their sizes:
Chris: XL shirt, 33×36 pants, 10 1/2-11 shoe
Gaston: L shirt, 32×32 pants, 10 1/2-11 shoe
Suzanne has a box ready for donations at the restaurant, so even if you can’t make it to the workshop, you can bring donations by and we’ll take care of making sure it gets to these guys. Suzanne’s is located at 1207-F E. Forrest Street in Athens, in the shopping center beside CVS.
